Welcome

The Edmund Rice Centre Mirrabooka is a-non-government charitable organisation, incorporated under the Trustees of the Christian Brothers WA under the Associations Incorporation Act of 1987. The Edmund Rice Centre was established in March 1998 to support refugee and indigenous families through the provision of such educational and community developments as:

  • English Language, computer skills, cooking, sewing and art/craft classes for refugees;
  • Outdoor and indoor activities for refugee and indigenous, women's groups and social events for families;
  • Lifeskills education in household management and family care to recently arrived refugees;
  • Generalist causework, referral and advocacy services to humanitarian entrants and migrants in the north metropolitan area

The Edmund Rice Centre Mirrabooka Advisory Committee is reponsible for the management and control of the operations of the organisation.

 

 

Centre Resources

The Centre is staffed by Stephen Bowman, Director, a full time Community Settlement Worker, ten part-time Program Coordinators, several-part time receptionists and a team of volunteers, many of whom are qualified teachers. Resources include four teching areas, a kitchen, a computer laboratory, craft materials and language teaching aids.
